It’s rare that a scene comes back once it has been cut from a movie, but once in a great while it happens. Not that it’s ever as simple as just dropping old work in to a new cut; in this case the original was drawn in 1.85/1 aspect ratio, and was designed as Dastardly’s big reveal, this version had to be restaged in 2.39/1, and needed to be altered to reflect that the characters and audience knew Dastardly was the principal antagonist by this point in the film.
The script called for the scene to be intercut with Shaggy and Blue Falcon on the Ferris wheel, Nassos Vakalis had drawn a great battle scene in the fairground which due to plot changes ended up being cut from the movie. Rather than discard all his fantastic work, I cannibalized and repurposed a number of panels drawn by him for the Ferris wheel section.
